Basic studies

The objective of the basic studies in the Degree Programme is to prepare the students for their future studies in engineering and project formed working. The basic studies include courses in mathematics, physics, communication skills, languages and project and teamworking.

Professional studies

The purpose of professional studies is to acquaint students to the central problem areas, applications and their scientific fundaments in software engineeging and mobile devices programming. The teaching in the professional studies aims at providing the students with the skills that enable them to make a career in software engineering or in some other expert positions.

Optional/elective studies

The aim of elective studies is to offer students a chance to choose personally interesting courses, which either deepen or widen their professional know-how. Deepening means that students get deeply acquainted with the sector of software industry they have chosen. Widening means that students widen their know-how to a new sector, the central contents of which they will learn and in which they can adapt their expertise of software industry. E.g. common, multidisciplinary polytechnic studies are these kind of studies.

Practical training

Bachelor’s degree includes a practical training conducive to professional skills. The general aim of the practical training is to make students apply and evaluate the knowledge and skills they have acquired during studies in the line-specifically central work tasks in practice in a controlled way. The extent of the practical training is 30 credit units.

Bachelor’s Thesis

The aim of a Bachelor’s thesis is to develop and display the preparedness of students to work independently and to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical expert task connected with professional studies. The extent of the Bachelor’s thesis is 15 credit units, about 400 working hours. It will be prepared from a subject related to the main subjects and the working life.
