2008 - 2009 curriculum of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology, BBA

The international Degree Programme in Business Information Technology (BIT) gives students the theoretical and practical skills needed to work in the field of Information and Communication Technology or related fields. The objective of the programme is to educate students to work as specialists in information security, software design and programming. The education is provided in English so the graduates have good communication skills in English. Lectures, exercises, team and project work and practical training along with modern teaching methods and tools are used in the teaching. The degree programme concentrates on promoting personal growth, ability to research-oriented working and cooperation with team members.

Kemi-Tornio UAS cooperates with local companies and other organizations aiming at giving real-life work experiences to our students. They have common projects with companies e.g. when doing exercises, practical training and the Bachelor’s thesis.

The studying environment comprises well-equipped library, up-to-date computers with appropriate software and data communications in classrooms and several laboratories to become familiar with hardware and software products. The studying atmosphere is international because we have students from Europe, Africa and Asia. Six best students of the
education group may have a possibility to study one year in USA (Boston and Dartmouth) and a half year in Frankfurt in Germany.

Usually the graduates start their career as specialists or designers. Later their position can be a software designer, system analysist, application specialist, project manager, team leader or entrepreneur.
