2011 - 2012 curriculum of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology, BBA

Professional studies

System analysis and design, 30 credits

This topic combines courses related to system analysis and software design. We are providing students significant theoretical knowledge as well as strong practical skills in this area, which is an indispensable competence of a professional in the software industry. Particularly, this topic focuses on the analysis and design of information systems, different software engineering models, human-computer interaction, usability of user interfaces, software testing, and practical skills in software design and implementation. After successful completion of these courses, students should understand different stages and methods of software design and should be able to conduct system analysis and design individually or being part of a software engineering team.

Main subjects:

  • Information Systems Analysis and Design, 3 credits
  • Software Engineering and UML, 6 credits
  • Human - Computer Interaction, 3 credits
  • Usability, 3 credits
  • Software Design and Programming Project, 12 credits
  • Software and System Testing, 3 credits

Detailed information (course content and material, learning methods and evaluation criteria) will be in the course implementation plan.

Items of Assessment: Substance topic lectures (about 50 % of the total amount of credit units), exams and/or group work and individual assignments, reports and presentations.

Programming skills and databases, 33 credits

Objective and subject matter of the topic is to familiarize student with basic knowledge of databases and how to develop software implementations. Student understands database system development process, concept of programming, object based programming and software engineering team work.

Student is able to design and construct databases, implement demanding applications with various programming languages and act in software engineering projects.
